Bones of Man 04:56

about

Can it be? That thing that paws the forest floor like an animal... Was that really once a man? That rut of slime and offal, did footsteps once wind behind instead? Fon't of red and broken bone, was that a mouth? That sucking sound a voice?

What of that moan, lost somewhere between pleasure and pain? Did that belong to the man too? The once-man, not this stump that wriggles through the mud with the same mechanical purpose as an insect.

To where does it crawl? Surely, there is no out-of-here. No rescue except the yellow eyes that observe its pilgrim's progress from invisible places. Wretched thing, what brought you low? What hunger drove you into the forest to die?

Like a million doomed before you, did you tremble to see the dark? Did you call out to be saved? Did you beg for light, immutable, immortal, impossible, and call that light love?
